Seven Days Remain: Seven days remain

26/10/10  ||  sly

Why is mediocrity so prevalent? I would imagine that if it’s worthwhile to go through the labors of forming a band, writing music, recording an album, playing shows, etc., etc., than at least it’s worth making good music, right?

Wrong.

Apparently.

Seven Days Remain are yet one more example of a band that probably won’t really go anywhere. It’s not because they fucking suck. It’s because they are simply mediocre. They sound exactly like a million other mediocre bands that will probably never go anywhere.

They start off with some decently heavy riffs and some growly vocals. Ok, not bad… But alas! Cue the slower, more melodic bits. “I don’t want to feel this, I don’t want to feel this, I don’t want to feel this…” And that’s when everything falls flaccid. Any reasonably decent excitement there may have previously been is out the window.

Are these guys’ girlfriends running the band? Or are these assholes really just gaping vaginae trying to attract more vaginae? And why do nearly all contemporary bands feel compelled to soften their “brutality” with depressive emotional vocals? These, my friends, are the questions of life.

On the bright side, it’s only an EP. I don’t think I could have made it through a full-length album. The originality levels are abysmally low and the boring factor is breathtakingly high.

The music is about as titillating as the cover. That should give you a fair idea.

On a personal note to the band: Just give it up. Clearly you are not the next big thing. Go manage a McDonald’s or something; therein lies your potential for an outstanding performance! And if you insist on the music thing, the least you could do would be to simply give out your merch. I mean, you can’t rightfully charge people for this meagerness.

I’m pretty fucking irritated that I am sitting here trying to think of some more bullshit to write in order to give this review some more body. There is really nothing I can say. Except don’t waste your time or money on this shit.
